Control Number: None
Circa 1984
This knife is in Near Mint Condition.
The blade has a runner mark from a sheath insertion, probably at the time of manufacture.
The knife appears unused with minor handling and storage marks.
There is a paint loss spot to a small section on the sheath.
Complete with the very rare Military Arsenal Box.
Here is the backstory. Puma made a small production run of these knives for the
Military, NATO, from what I remember. At that time Puma was vying for the contract to produce them.
The production contract was not awarded to Puma. Being a military item, Puma was prohibited from selling them into the German / European civilian market. The small production run of these knives was sent to Gutman Cutlery in NY, the main distributor of products in the US at the time. They show up in the Gutman Catalog in 1984. While not a particularly attractive knife, it is a very rare one. It is not known how many were produced. I have seen this same design from another maker before. For the advanced collector of all things PUMA.
