Control Number: None
Circa 1984
This item is in Near Mint Condition. A very small number of these knives were produced by Puma for a NATO military contract bid proposal. Puma was not selected for the contract. Puma was prohibited from selling the knives in the civilian market in Europe. The knives were sent to Gutman Cutlery in New York to be sold in the US market. They appeared in the Gutman Catalog in 1984. These are rare knives and occasionally you will see one for sale.
This one is in really nice condition. You will see sheath runner marks which are typical for metal sheaths where the blade rubs against an internal blade retainer. It keeps the knife from falling out of the sheath. You will also see this type of sheath in Frogman models. I think this knife was only inserted into the sheath once or twice. The sheath is near perfect. The box has a hole in one end from damage during transport. A very nice collector item here.
